FUTURITY RULES

General Provisions: PQHA Futurities will be held in conjunction with the PA Classic. To be eligible, owner and exhibitor of nominated horse must be PQHA members. Any owner may nominate as many entries as desired, and transfer of ownership does not affect eligibility as long as new owner is a PQHA member and transfer reported to Futurity Chairperson within two weeks of the transfer date.

It is the owner’s responsibility to remit payments on time and to be acquainted with all regulations. All checks to be made payable to PQHA Futurity and mailed to the Futurity Chairperson. Returned checks will be charged the going bank rate. NOTE: Please read carefully and note the different dates on the payment schedule. All classes are open with the exception of Closed Yearlings, as they continue to be horses nominated and paid in full through their weanling year in the PQHA futurity.

MISCELLANEOUS RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Futurity governed by AQHA rules (unless covered by the same)
2. Postmark designates official date entered (no postage meter)
3. Lunge Line: Exhibitor may show multiple horses but must have additional handler for  conformation portion of class.
4. Entries may not change handler/ride if Futurity has multiple goes. (Riders/handlers must be members of PQHA)
5. If multiple goes, must qualify in one go to be eligible for placing. (If entry is disqualified on both judges card when Futurity is judged in one   go, entry is not eligible for placing.)
6. Tie Breakers – 1 – Placing on both judges’ cards 2- Tie breaker (senior) judge (to be designated before show starts).
7. Score sheets will be posted ASAP after class is completed
8. Notification of death of horse entered, received and documented by August 15, will be eligible for refund.
9. Any discrepancies/infractions must be brought to attention of Futurity Chairperson before end of show.
10. Decisions made by Futurity Chairperson final. If felt not satisfactory, may report in writing to PQHA Board for further review
11. Checks not cashed by December 31 of same year considered void.
AWARDS
80% OF ENTRY FEES ACCRUE TO PURSE OF CLASS INVOLVED. Al classes receive PQHA, Sponsor and QIP added monies.
Ties: Monies combined/divided evenly and senior judge determines ribbon placing. Ten places will be paid. If fewer than ten entries, the entire purse will be distributed to those eligible.

BREEDERS AWARD
The PQHA Breeder’s Award is presented to the member’s stallion, standing in PA, whose offspring accumulated the most points in all the PQHA Futurity classes. Joyce Armstrong Memorial QIP Breeder’s Award is the same, except stallion need not stand in PA.
